There's something so special about homemade Christmas ornaments, isn't there? Whether you create them with your family as a holiday tradition, or you like hand making ornaments to give as special gifts, making your own ornaments can be so rewarding! This year I decorated my Christmas Tree in a Black and White Scandinavian theme, and I created five Black and White Ornament styles to trim the tree with. I just love the modern, minimalistic style of these ornaments, and I think you will, too! Take a peek below to learn how you can recreate these gorgeous ornaments for your own tree.

To create these pretty baubles, I used a black permanent marker to draw simple designs onto DIY Ceramic Glazed Ornaments. Next, I used a Sponge Paintbrush to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge Matte Acrylic Sealer to the bottom of each ball. To apply the gold, lay the carrier paper of a Gold Foil Leaf Sheet in your hand, gold leaf facing up. Carefully place the ornament over the foil, and use your hand to "cup" the paper around the ornament until the gold leaf is transferred. Allow to dry. Dust off the excess foil with a dry paintbrush.

These super soft, ultra simple yarn ball ornaments are reminiscent of a cozy winter sweater, making them perfect for a Scandinavian Christmas tree! To create them, secure one end of Vintage White Bernat Blanket Big Ball Yarn to a styrofoam ball using a pearl-headed straight pin. Wind the yarn around the ball in multiple directions until the entire ball is covered. Secure a hoop of Baker's Twine to another pearl-headed straight pin, cut the yarn, and secure with the pin. Use small and medium foam balls for visual interest.

Begin making these ornaments by using washi tape to create sections on DIY Unfinished Wood Tree Ornaments. Use gold paint and black acrylic paint to color in the sections of each tree, allowing the paint to dry between colors. Once the paint is completely dry, peel off the washi tape. String Baker's Twine through the ornament holes to hang the ornaments on your tree.

To create these modern Scandinavian ornaments, string Round Unfinished Wood Beads onto Jute Cording and secure in place by tying knots in the twine. Vary the designs by stringing the beads in different patterns. Once you've thread the beads for each ornament, tie a hoop in the twine to secure to your tree.

These minimalistic star ornaments are so simple, but look spectacular on the Christmas tree! To create them, use star cookie cutters in various sizes to cut star shapes out of White Sargent Art® Sculpt it™ Air-Hardening Sculpting Material. Let air dry for about 48 hours. Use hot glue to attach Baker's Twine to the backs of the stars for hanging.
