I love to use a classic white vases while designing weddings for my clients. They can be used multiple ways to create a variety of looks that would fit any aesthetic. Here's two options for white vases that I love for DIY centerpieces. The textured bottle vase and the textured round vase are perfect for any style of centerpiece. With the change of table linen color, napkin color, and flower color, you can create three distinct looks with these pretty white vases.
The first look I like to call Masculine Modern.
I used a black table linen and black napkins to create a sharp contrast with the bright white vases. From there, I filled the vases with all white flowers.
Here’s a little florist trick to get two distinct looks from the same flower: Those flowers with the yellow centers? They are the same white tulips that you see in this image. Simply flip the petals inside out and the tulip instantly looks like a totally different flower.
Mini white carnations look modern when arranged in a tight group in the textured round vase. Add a few large white roses, and you’ve just designed a modern, masculine tablescape that would look great in an industrial, loft type venue.
This next look I call Colorful Whimsy.
The same white vases look whimsical, fun, and interesting with the change of table, napkins, and flower color. I decided on a naked wood table and accented the center with a burlap table runner. Crisp white napkins and a colorful flower accent at each place setting completed the look. Bright, colorful flowers are what really make this centerpiece pop. The white vases are filled with pink spray roses, yellow, peach, and pink roses, purple wild flowers, and greenery to make a fun, color-filled centerpiece.
Style the vases in a group, even in clusters, down the center of the table. This will leave room for candles, table numbers, and even the bread basket for your guests.
For a whimsical aesthetic, group together many types of different flowers in the same vase. Try to use ones that have different textures and shapes. Here I used purple wildflowers, pink garden spray roses, and some greenery as accents.
Finally, for those girly girls among us, a formal take on a feminine, romantic wedding.
The addition of a soft pink table linen instantly softens up the look of the white vases. The pink color is brought into the flowers with mini pink carnations, blush garden spray roses, and pink tulips. A few ivory roses finish the feminine, romantic aesthetic.
Sometimes a single stem of flower in a low bud vase is all you need to elevate your centerpiece design. Find blooms with big, full petals and cut the stem short. Place in the bud vase at a slight angle to let the lush flower really shine.
