If you can bring crafting, Halloween and video games together, you may have reached the pinnacle of childhood excitement! These three pumpkin crafts, inspired by Minecraft, Roblox and Among Us, will make your video-game-playing kids go crazy. With a few simple craft materials and lightweight foam pumpkins, you can make these hilarious video game character pumpkins. So whether your kid is a Minecrafter, a Roblox jumper or a suspicious Among Us creature, this trifecta will have them exchanging their keyboards for paintbrushes!
If your gamer child is talking about diamond pick-axes, The Enderman and creepers, then you likely have a kid who's Minecraft-obsessed.
To make this pumpkin, cut orange, black and yellow tissue paper into 3/4-inch-to-1-inch squares. With a pencil, lightly draw the eye and mouth shapes of the Minecraft Jack-o-Lantern. With a small paintbrush, apply Mod Podge to about one square inch of the surface of the pumpkin inside the eye or mouth shapes and then adhere black squares to fill in the lines, overlapping when needed. Paint Mod Podge on top of tissue paper squares to seal. Once the eyes and mouth are completed, add orange and yellow squares around them, matching the look of the Minecraft Jack-o-Lantern!
If your kids cringe at the thought of being a bacon-hair noob, then they fall into the Roblox-loving category. (Parent glossary: Every player starts the game with a white face and bacon-like hair, and once you get deeper into the game, you can design your character.)
First paint your foam pumpkin white. While it's drying, cut 1-inch- and 2-inch-wide strips of dark brown felt. Glue a chenille stem of any color in between two strips of matching width. Hot-glue the strips around the stem, varying lengths and widths. To give the hair a more believable bacon-look, cut wiggly-edged, thin strips out of a lighter brown felt. Paint the eyes and mouth onto the pumpkin with black paint.
If you hear your kids yelling into their computers that "red is sus," then you know you are dealing with an Among Us officianado. (Parent glossary: Sus is short for suspicious.)
Paint your foam pumpkin in one of the 18 colors of the Among Us creatures and set it aside to dry. Cut a four by eight inch oval of light gray felt, a light blue piece about half the size and a small white oval. Glue the light blue piece on top of the gray, and the white piece on top of the blue. Glue the back of the gray felt to a piece of quilt batting, wrapping it around. Glue this felt piece to the pumpkin as shown. Wrap a full sheet of felt to match your pumpkin's color around batting, sealing the open edges with glue. Glue it to the back of the pumpkin. Trim two paper cups down to two to three inches tall, and hot-glue them to the bottom of the pumpkin as feet.
