Celebrate the coming Halloween holiday with this moody and dramatic Beetlejuice inspired Halloween dinner party. This enchanting evening is sure to captivate and enthrall your guests as you take them deep into the demonic beauty behind Tim Burton's classic film. So, without further ado..."it's showtime!"
We wanted a mysterious yet lush ambiance for our dinner party, so we decided on a palette of black, white, deep burgundy and a mix of silver and gold tones. This combination helped create the quintessential creepiness we wanted to achieve.
We draped our dining table with a Black Linen Tablecloth and dressed it with a Black and White Striped Table Runner to pay homage to Beetlejuice's infamous attire.
Each place setting began with a Gold Charger Plate topped with a Black and White Dinner and Dessert Plate. We cut a Burgundy Gauze Table Runner and let it serve as much needed color between the plates.
Our dinner for the recently deceased menus were backed on Black Glitter Cardstock and adorned with black and white striped ribbon.
Each setting included Gold Hammered Cutlery, Black Plastic Patterned Wine Glasses and Paper Straws detailed with Vinyl Flags and classic quotes from the movie like, "It's Showtime!"
A Black and White Striped Favor Box was adorned with Burgundy Ribbon and a Customized Gold Foil Hexagon Sticker with the quote, "Never trust the living."
A Short Round Pedestal Jar was filled with Black Floral Filler and various color coordinating faux stems. We detailed on of the stems with White Masking Tape to replicate Beetlejuice's classic striped pattern.
A DIY Paper Mache Coffin Favor Box was painted Black, outlined with black and white striped ribbon and then detailed with White Adhesive Vinyl using our Cricut Cutting Machine to spell out Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. And we all know what happens when you say his name three times!
We incorporated a variety of mixed metal decor items including two Three-Arm Silver Candelabras and Taper Candle Holders that were painted gold and both given a distressed, tarnished look using black acrylic paint.
Glass hurricane vases were also painted with Black Acrylic Paint and then detailed with White Adhesive Vinyl using our Cricut to create the silhouettes of our main characters; Beetlejuice and Lydia.
A gold bar cart was home to some of our favorite details including our calypso shrimp cocktails.
They were served in Plastic Martini Glasses and adorned with Wooden Thank You Tags painted Black. We also added lyrics from the song "Day-o", which the cast so famously lip-syncs while under the sinister possession of Lydia, Adam and Barbara. Luckily our shrimp remained docile and edible.
The shrimp cocktails were joined by a third Three Arm Silver Candelabra with black taper candles detailed with White Masking Tape.
A sinister sign was created from a Serving Tray that was painted Black. White Adhesive Vinyl was used to spell out what we consider Lydia's most memorable quote, " I, myself am strange and unusual."
Our Beetlejuice inspired dinner party wouldn't be complete without our very own Handbook for the Recently Deceased and a DIY sandworm made out of two pieces of Foam Wreath and Black and White Masking Tape.
We hope this Beetlejuice party has inspired you to host a spine-chilling, spooky soiree of your own so you can prove you are "the ghost with the most!"
